Fujiya

Posted by iPanda in $Cheap Eats | 3 Paws | Japanese | Vancouver

Fujiya is located at 912 Clark Drive in Vancouver, BC.  It is a Japanese market full of unique ingredients for you to make your own Japanese food at home.  They have a small section of already made bento boxes and rolls.  We were passing by and wanted to pick up a light dinner.  So here it is!!!

We had the $2.95 california roll.  The taste was average.  I didn’t expect much.  If you want a light meal or a snack then this is the perfect choice!

Then we also picked up a chicken katsu bento box.  This was only $5.95.  With increasing prices on food in Vancouver lately, I found this a great deal because the box was stuffed with yummy goodness.  The chicken katsu was breaded very well.  It came with sides dishes of mashed potato, marinated veggies and tofu, and a piece of Japanese fish cake.  It was different than the bento boxes I have at restaurants because they had more unique side dishes.  I enjoyed this a lot.  The only downfall was that it would probably be better if we could have it fresh.  But it was in the open refrigerator and I needed to preheat it before we could eat it.

Fujiya offers a small area at the front of the store for you to sit down and eat.  There is a microwave and a small TV in the corner.  I normally take my purchases home to eat, but it’s great of them to offer this little area for people to sit down, eat and then run!  GOOD JOB~ iPanda will definitely come back to buy some Japanese ingredients and have a Japanese dinner night. YUM!!!

UPDATE!  Happy meals cost differently at different locations!!!  We visited the Kingsway McD’s for $3.83 Happy Meals!!!

UPDATE 2!  See my collection of all 8 Olympic Happy Meal toys HERE!

The McDonald’s in Vancouver are giving out Olympic mascot figurines!!!  They are all soooo cute!  iPanda of course had to get her paws on Miga (too bad Muk Muk isn’t included).  I was super happy to walk into the McDonald’s on Kingsway and see that they were giving away the figure skating Miga!!!  It comes on wheels which will make Miga spin when  you wheel it on a table!  I think this is toy is very good quality even though it is just a happy meal toy.  Good job to McD for the design and construction.  Look at Miga’s tiny red cheeks.  So cute!

I ordered the hamburger happy meal and the fries and coke were all packaged inside this happy meal box!  I haven’t seen this box in a long time. They used to package it in these boxes when panda was growing up….but then McD decided to switch to those brown paper bags.  They were not as fun because the colors were super dull.  I was super happy to see that they are putting happy meals in these golden arch boxes.

The best part is that the Happy Meal only costs $3.83.  Btw, did you know that the happy meal toys can be bought by themselves?  You don’t necessarily need to eat all those burgers to collect them all.  At least they used to let people do that.  Not sure if it’s still the same now with the 2010 Winter Olympics almost here.  But it’s a better deal with the food because it’s only a bit more money for a burger, fries and small drink~
