After visiting the Beard Papa’s at Crystal Mall, we decided to see if there were any differences at the Richmond Centre location.  This store is not located at the food court.  Instead, it is right across from Old Navy.  The entire hallway was filled with the yummy smell of pastry.  WOW!  If you can’t find the store, then just follow your nose!

Here are the other desserts that they offer.  My favourite is the fondant chocolate.  As you can tell from the picture, the fondant was already sold out when we visited.  So instead, we ordered something different.

This is the winter limited edition chestnut cream puff.  It says on the poster that the chestnuts were French; however, I really couldn’t taste any difference in the French chestnut and the regular kind we buy at T&T.

And here it is…the chestnut cream puff!  We had to wait a couple more minutes for it because they had to be specially made.  The cream puff had a swirl of creamy chestnut on the top.  They also added a dark chocolate covered chestnut on the top.

When I ordered it, I expected the cream to be chestnut flavoured.  But I was wrong :(  The cream inside was the original flavour.  So basically, we paid more money to order the original cream puff only with an added drop of chestnut on the top.  We were a bit disappointed that the cream was not chestnut flavoured.  I will definitely order my fondant chocolate again next time though!

Fujiya

Posted by iPanda in $Cheap Eats | 3 Paws | Japanese | Vancouver

Fujiya is located at 912 Clark Drive in Vancouver, BC.  It is a Japanese market full of unique ingredients for you to make your own Japanese food at home.  They have a small section of already made bento boxes and rolls.  We were passing by and wanted to pick up a light dinner.  So here it is!!!

We had the $2.95 california roll.  The taste was average.  I didn’t expect much.  If you want a light meal or a snack then this is the perfect choice!

Then we also picked up a chicken katsu bento box.  This was only $5.95.  With increasing prices on food in Vancouver lately, I found this a great deal because the box was stuffed with yummy goodness.  The chicken katsu was breaded very well.  It came with sides dishes of mashed potato, marinated veggies and tofu, and a piece of Japanese fish cake.  It was different than the bento boxes I have at restaurants because they had more unique side dishes.  I enjoyed this a lot.  The only downfall was that it would probably be better if we could have it fresh.  But it was in the open refrigerator and I needed to preheat it before we could eat it.

Fujiya offers a small area at the front of the store for you to sit down and eat.  There is a microwave and a small TV in the corner.  I normally take my purchases home to eat, but it’s great of them to offer this little area for people to sit down, eat and then run!  GOOD JOB~ iPanda will definitely come back to buy some Japanese ingredients and have a Japanese dinner night. YUM!!!

Rockia’s company bought them to the KEG Steakhouse and Bar.  The interior of the restaurant is mostly made of hard wood.  The lighting was very dim and made it challenging to take pictures.  In addition, the service was not pleasant and the cleanness of the restaurant left us doubting whether we will return.

Rockia: Here is a pictures of the miscellaneous stuff on the knife.  Ewww…. This is probably the number one mistake that restaurants make.  Regardless of how good the food is….if the utensils are dirty then we won’t returning.  After we notified the server, it took almost 15 mins before we were given a clean knife.  Oh my!
