Mazazu Crepe at Aberdeen Centre

Posted by iPanda in $Cheap Eats | 2 Paws | Dessert | Locations | Richmond

After reviewing Cafe Crepe in downtown Vancouver, we wanted to compare it with Mazazu crepe at Aberdeen Center.  This place is located in the food court and is branded as a Japanese style crepe place.  Crepes make a wonderful sweet snack between meals!  I was so excited to hear that this place opened at Aberdeen.  After starring at the menu, we decided to order the strawberry cheesecake crepe.  I love cheesecake and my favorite so far is still Cheesecake Factory in the US.

Ta-DA!!!  Here it is!!!  I was surprised that they just put a whole piece of cheesecake into the crepe.  I guess I just imagined that they would mix the cheescake and strawberries and then use it as a spread.

The cheesecake was surrounded by a thick layer of cream.  I wish that the cream was smoother because it resembled marshmellows more than cream.  It was too thick and not creamy enough.  The most disappointing part was the fact that they just put a small amount of strawberry jam into the crepe.  As well, there weren’t any fresh strawberries in it.  After eating it, iPanda decided that she still prefers Cafe Crepe’s warm nutella banana crepes more.  But Mazazu definitely has a wider selection of flavors.  Oh well!  It’s always great to have another place to get dessert!!!

Overall impression:

Good:
  • A whole piece of cheesecake was inside
Bad:
  • Not enough sauce and no fresh strawberries
  • Similar prices to Cafe Crepe
