I love free food!!!  Haha.  And we were pleasantly surprised by a lot of it during our visit to Lido Restaurant.  We stopped here one night for a light dinner because we weren’t very hungry.  I ordered the fish ball congee and radish cake while Rockia ordered the ham and cheese sandwich with cold milk tea.

The congee was pretty good and up to par with others that I had.  I like eating the fish balls with soy sauce sprinkled with a little bit of white pepper powder.  It’s a tradition in our family to eat it this way so I automatically whip out the soy sauce whenever I order this.  I usually scoop out the fish ball and dip it into the soy sauce.  YUM!

The congee comes paired with two squares of turnip cake.  Lido has pretty good ones because they put lots of ingredients in it.  In addition, it is pan fried so that the outsides are nice and crispy.

I don’t know why Rockia ordered the ham and egg sandwich…I guess he just felt like eating a sandwich…but I’m pretty sure I could make this in like 10 mins at home. HAHA~ This is pretty standard as well.  A bit of melted cheese and a slice of ham.  He didn’t want it toasted though.  Nice of them to cut off the crust!

And of course his ham and cheese sandwich came with a drink.  And what else would iPanda drink?  Nothing else but cold milk tea! Lido has pretty good milk tea.  I think their mixture of tea, milk and sugar is almost similar to the ones in Hong Kong.  It’s pretty expensive though if you order it on its own.  It’s better to pair it with a meal.  And of course you need to add money to make it a cold drink.

That was all the food we ordered.  It was a pretty simple meal which costs a total of 13 dollars.  However, we were surprised in the end when the waitress came over to clear the table and offered to give us a complementary dessert.  We were a bit puzzled about this because we didn’t order a lot of food.  But of course I said “OK!”

And here it is…..almond tea!  I was expecting something like red bean soup or something.  But this was amazing and delicious!  I read on the posters on the wall that a bowl of almond tea is 4 dollars!  Hehe.  The almond tea was smooth and not overly sweet. Free stuff is always nice!  But it doesn’t end there!

We were also given a box of pork and shrimp dumplings to take home!!!  Apparently they had a special that night where every table that sits down to eat after 6pm got to take home a box of dumplings!  WOW!  Haha.  A light meal turned into almost a free meal because of all the stuff we got to take home. We were definitely laughing about this experience all night.  NICE!
