i Cafe
Posted by in $$Moderately Priced | 3 Paws | Hong Kong Style Cafe | VancouverWe visited i Cafe for lunch one day after our friend’s university graduation. It was a wonderful day with amazing weather. Rockia and I realized that we haven’t been to i Cafe in 2 and a half years! Haha. We are hardly ever in the Broadway area though. So it was nice visiting this restaurant again~
This is the lunch special menu. The options offered are all $7.95. The dishes include a hot drink, but you can change it into a cold one by adding 1 dollar~
They have many other options in their main menu as well. I think i Cafe has slightly higher prices than most HK style restaurants. Their rice omelettes are pretty famous here, but I think Estea Beverage Club has ok rice omelettes too (at a lower price)
After going through all the menus, I decided on the minced beef with pan fried egg spaghetti ($7.95) and the curry beef brisket ($9.95). The curry is served with soup, rice and a drink.
We ordered two cups of hot almond tea~ It was thick and had an intense almond flavour. I quite enjoyed this. I should try making this at home if I can find the mixing powder!
My minced beef with pan fried egg spaghetti was huge! There was loads of minced beef!!! The sauce was mild and not sour like most tomato sauces.

The only disappointment was that they fully cooked the egg! I would have preferred the yoke to blend with the spaghetti.
The other dish we had was the curry beef brisket. Rockia loves this and orders this often.
The curry sauce was very well done. It was mildly spicy and tasted similar to Japanese style curry. However, there weren’t many pieces of potatoes inside.
The curry came with a dish of rice. There was lots and lots of sauce. The beef brisket was a bit lean and tough though. It was average tasting. Overall, i Cafe is a good quality HK style restaurant. The prices are higher than others in Vancouver, but it also has a much nicer environment. Parking near i Cafe is the hardest part. That is probably the reason why we haven’t visited for so long.
