Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle (洪師傅台灣牛肉麵)
Posted by in $$Moderately Priced | Richmond | Taiwanese Beef NoodleTaiwanese beef noodle was the biggest rage before and now there seems to be a rise in Japanese ramen restaurants! Anyways, back to Chef Hung! This restaurant is located in Aberdeen Centre!
We started the meal with an order of Pan fried grounded beef cake ($3.50). This was my favorite dish of the night! The outer layer was crispy and wasn’t oily at all.

The inside of the pan fried grounded beef cake was super juicy. I loved biting into this because it was warm on the outside and then there was pipping hot juice on the inside. It reminded me of eating a xiao long bao but with less juice and way more meat and vegetables. I really enjoyed this!
We also ordered the noodle topped with ground pork sauce ($6.95). The ground pork sauce was salty and not very spicy. I prefer it that way because if it’s too spicy it’s hard to taste the other flavours in the dish. The grounded pork was mixed with tiny pieces of hard tofu. Also, there were strips of cucumbers and carrots on the side.

After mixing the noodles in with the sauce, we took a bite and it reminded us of an Asian version of spaghetti bolognese. I liked that they put tons of sauce into the noodle~
Of course we had to try their famous beef noodle~ This is the champion beef shank with noodle in soup ($10.95). The soup base was very flavourful and had intense beef flavours. We got to chose between flat or thin noodles and we ordered the flat noodles. They were al dente and chewy. As for the beef shank, it was super tender.
Prices for the noodle bowls ranged from 6 dollars to 11 dollars. iPanda found their noodles to be pretty good, but there is definitely too much hype surrounding Chef Hung. It’s good, but not great. I definitely enjoyed the pan fried grounded beef cake though~
