Bubble Waffle from Bubble Queen
Posted by in $Cheap Eats | 5 Paws | Bubble Tea | RichmondThis is our second visit to Bubble Queen. I made a note that I must return after the first visit because we haven’t tried the bubble waffles (eggettes) on the menu yet! The last time we were here….we tried some of their deliciously thick bbt slush. Check out the review HERE.
We arrived here around 4pm. There were lots of people dropping in to pick up a bbt after work or school. We had to wait a little bit before we could order. They have some tables set up for people to stay and eat in.
It’s a pretty casual environment. This is the ordering desk where you can walk up and order your drinks/snacks. They have tons of chocolate bars on sale~

They have free wi-fi at Bubble Queen. In addition, there is a large TV on one of the walls. It’s a nice environment to gather with friends.
So here is the main reason for our visit…the bubble waffles. We ordered the match red bean and the taro bubble waffle.

After it was taken off the bubble waffle grill, it was placed on the rack to cool. Then it was folded in half and put into a brown paper bag. They punched holes into the paper bag so that the bubble waffle can cool.

I dived into the bag and tried the taro bubble waffle first. It was unique and was a unique twist to the original bubble waffles. The added taro didn’t overwhelm the eggs in the batter. The outside was hard and crunchy while the inside was soft and mushy~

Here is a look at the inside. The purple colour is similar to the taro powder in taro bubble teas. Bubble waffles are best eaten fresh and while it is still warm.
The second one we ordered was matcha red bean. I liked this one better than the taro because of the red bean. I’ve made bubble waffles before at home and it was harder than we expected. So I was very surprised they were able to put the red bean so evenly into the bubbles.

This reminded me of the Japanese red bean cake. It was delicious!!! Unlike other places that make bubble waffles, Bubble Queen makes them with a thicker outer layer.

This was a fun visit. But I noticed in their menu that they won’t be making bubble waffles in the Summer time. I wonder why? Anyways~ Better go try it now!
