Another night of chit chat with friends over yummy desserts.  Yavis Club is located in Richmond and specializes in cheesecakes.

iPanda’s favourite dessert has always been cheesecakes!!  I was looking forward to visiting Yavis Club for a long time and we finally got to try it!

They have a special going on.  With every dessert order, you can get a drink at a special price!  Of course, we went for the deal because I had a feeling we would be thirsty after a filling cheesecake.

Both me and my friend ordered the White Romance cheesecake.  It was a small to medium sized piece.  However, it was already enough because it was very sweet and creamy.  I had higher expectations for this cheesecake and it was kind of a let down.  The White Romance is their original baked style cheesecake but I was hoping for something special.  It was definitely homemade but it didn’t offer any sort of “WOW” factor to it (unlike Cheesecake Factory in the US).  It was too sweet and mushy.

We also ordered the Lavender Cheesecake.  The surprising thing was that the White Romance and the Lavender Cheesecake tasted almost the same.  There was a very small hint of lavender.  As well, I expected that the lavender cheesecake would be purple in colour but it was also white and was too similar to the White Romance in taste and looks.  The only way we could tell the two slices apart was from the decorative art on the plates. Each plate was decorated with a different picture pattern.  It was made with chocolate which was then frozen and filled in with the different flavoured jellies.  I found the picture patterns to be the most interesting part of their desserts.

Another one of our friends ordered the blueberry cheesecake.  This was different than the other two just because it had a stronger blueberry taste.  However, it was also very sweet and was loaded with cream cheese.  I thought that the blueberry cheesecake would be fruity and refreshing, but that wasn’t the case.  I think the different flavours of cheesecake were all too overwhelmed by the cheese.They do have glacier cheesecakes that we haven’t tried.  Maybe glaciers will suit our tastes a bit more.

Two of my friends ordered a flower tea to accompany their cheesecakes.  This was useful because it washed down the sweet and thick cream cheese flavours.

As for me, I decided to go a different route and ordered a lemonade-like drink to counter sweet with sour.  This is the fresh lime margarita.  No idea why it is called a margarita because it doesn’t have any alcohol in it at all.  A margarita is usually a cocktail with tequila, lime, or lemon juice.  iPanda doesn’t like alcohol much so I had made sure that this drink had no alcohol in it prior to ordering.  I don’t think Yavis Club even sells alcohol.

Overall, I think that Yavis Club is a great place to gather with friends (especially at night because they open until very late).  However, the White Romance didn’t give us an urge to revisit and try their other flavours.  As well, all the baked cheesecakes that we tried were a bit too creamy and sweet.
