Sunflower Bubble Tea Cafe (向日葵 時尚餐飲)
Posted by in $$Moderately Priced | 3 Paws | Bubble Tea | VancouverAhhhhh~ Sunflower Bubble Tea! This is a typical bubble tea place which serves bubble tea drinks, Taiwanese dinner combos and snacks. It is located right next to Joyce Station. I thought it had closed down awhile ago because it was closed every time we passed by. Thankfully it reopened recently and had actually expanded!
I love the new decorations. Ironically though….the walls have clover decorations on it and not sunflowers. It’s all very bright and pretty though. They can now cater to large groups of people because they closed the hot pot place next to it and renovated so that there are now larger tables available.
My favourite part of the renovation is these lights. I love modern lights. These are not as pretty as the ones at Kirin though.
And here is where the staff makes the bubble tea~ It’s the same size as before. Looks a bit crowded for sure because the cash machine is also there.
However, I was surprised to see that they still didn’t have enough room to put their supplies after the expansion. There were boxes piled high in the corner. It kind of ruined the modern style and decor of the restaurant.
On to the food! We ordered a green milk tea to share. It was a good thing we only ordered one because it was huge! You can’t really tell, but it was a very tall glass. It was pretty good too. Creamy and fluffy~ Yum. It was a bit sweet but ipanda loves sweet things so it was ok for me.
Rockia had the Korean BBQ Pork with rice. The dish came with two side dishes. They were roasted peanuts and black pepper zucchini. The BBQ pork is average. It’s juicy and we enjoyed the Korean BBQ sauce. However, we were disappointed with the two side dishes. The side dishes should be vegetables but we were given a large plate of peanuts. These were the peanuts you use in Asian soups. Not crunchy at all. There were also too many peanuts! I felt weird after eating so much. As for the cucumbers, the black pepper was HOT! The side dishes were definitely a bit boring.

As for iPanda, I had the crispy fried chicken on rice. These were coated with tons of batter. It was a bit salty as well. Overall, this combo was very dry. The side dishes didn’t have any sauce and the crispy fried chicken was dry.
I’ve been to Sunflower Bubble Tea many times before. Before, I used to love the unique side dishes. However, I was disappointed this time.
Two rice combos and one drink was $19.37. It’s reasonably priced…I guess. This is a good place to go for a BBT. We didn’t enjoy the rice combos as much, but maybe other things are better. I think the restaurant was probably sold to new owners. The name on the receipt is Sun Flower Cafe and not Sunflower Bubble Tea. Anyways, we’ll be back for drinks for sure.

Sun Flower still has the same owner, also is the owner for Tea works and Tea team.
WOW! Ok. Thanks for the heads-up. I find that Sunflower’s bbt is better than TeaWorks and TeaTeam though….
