Sun Century Good Food (八佰伴中心 新世紀)

Yaohan Center’s food court is full of places to get take out Chinese style dishes. I normally don’t eat these take out Chinese dishes because they are oily and we can make similar things better at home. I guess it’s just for convenience. It’s easier to pick up a dish at Yaohan after a long day at work than to cook. This time, we visited Sun Century Good Food to pick up some pot luck food for a party. We ordered 4 big tin pans. It was enough to feed 8-10 people with lots of left overs after.
The food was good because it was higher quality than what we would expect from a food court. It was like giant pans of Hong Kong style cafe food. The price of the food depends on the size. A regular dish is $6. The next size up is $20 and these big pans that we ordered for the party was $28. We all thought this was a great deal because it was a lot of food. The dish that people at the party liked most was the baked pork chop on rice. It tasted exactly like the ones we have at HK cafes. There were ample pork chops and mixed veggies. Definitely worth the price.
We also ordered the black pepper beef spaghetti noodle. It was weird because we couldn’t find a single slice of beef in it! We looked everywhere in the dish! Haha. I think they forgot to put it in.
My second favorite were the chicken wings. They were a bit over fried because the color was darker than usual. But it was really crispy! I would recommend this for parties with kids!
And my all-time favorite dish of the night was the bolognese pasta. It was topped with meat sauce and cheese! I’ve always loved spaghetti and this is the best kind. This HK style bolognese doesn’t really have a strong tomato taste to it. This was good because tomatoes can make the pasta sour sometimes. YUM! Make sure you pre-order for a big party!!!
Good:
- giant pans of food
- reasonable prices
- good for feeding big parties
- a bit oily
