Estea Beverage Club (生活小品)
Posted by in $$Moderately Priced | Bubble Tea | RichmondThis is the second time we decided to review Estea Beverage Club in Richmond. It is a popular hang out and is usually crowded even really late at night. It was overflowing with people on the night that we visited with friends. We had already had dinner so we only had drinks while most of our friends had their rice. I was super thirsty and was hoping to order something refreshing. Panda’s choice was a cold passion fruit calpico. My drink was light and tangy. Calpico is a yogurt based drink which blends in very well with the passion fruit. I liked it very much because the sourness was balanced by the sweetness of the syrup. It satisfied my thirst right away. Thumbs up!
Rockia had a craving for pudding and had a milk pudding with grass jelly. He was going to add pudding chunks but it costs $1.50 and grass jelly was only $0.50. So of course he went with his usual grass jelly. The pudding milk tea was very good as well. It was made with pudding powder, but it wasn’t powdery in taste (which is an indication that they knew how to balance the water versus powder ratio). I think the drinks here are very safe. I would use the word “safe” because some bbt places have hits and misses. If I go to a bbt that I am not confident about then I would usually only order a milk tea or green milk tea. These two drinks are good indicators of how good a bubble tea place is. If they can’t even make the original flavor of milk tea well then don’t even try the other things. At Estea, I would definitely be confident enough to order different flavors and to be more adventurous.
This place is also famous for their rice omelettes. This one that our friend (CEO/writer of So Far So Cheap) had is the white sauce chicken rice omelette . He says that the rice omelettes at I-cafe are still number one in his book. I really should go try it one day. The rice omelettes here are very flavourful and moist. Each rice omelette comes with a choice of different sauces and sides. This creamy sauce is definitely one of my favourites. :) In terms of the service, the waitresses had horrible hearing and spoke mostly Taiwanese. So make sure you speak as clearly as you can when you order or they will most likely make your drink wrong or give you something else~
Later update:
Saw this facebook page about ESTEA’s service and mixed up orders. Hilarious! Apparently it’s not just my group of friends that have that problem! Same thing happens in both the Burnaby branch and Richmond branch
