Hollywood Steak House (荷里扒活房)
Posted by in $Cheap Eats | Hong Kong Style Cafe | RichmondHollywood Steak House used to be a constant hang out place for panda’s friends. We loved it here because the decor was very warm and cozy. The inside of the restaurant has dangling lights and so does the outside. The decor is modern and there are two televisions that play movies and karoke discs. Nowadays, we have expanded our hangout spots and no longer frequent Hollywood Steak House because of it’s higher prices. The prices are not really that high but the food has also gone a bit more downhill. During this visit, we had one hit and one miss.
The hit was this creamy seafood pasta. The creamy wasn’t very thick but that can be a good thing sometimes. There were ample amount of seafood in the dish. The red and yellow peppers also gave it a crunchy taste. Overall, it was a bit above average.
This miss was this creamy baked fish filet rice. Panda loves this dish and has it everywhere. This used to be the place that served the best; but, this time it was disappointing.
After taking a couple of mouthfuls, I realized that it was the fried rice underneath the fish that ruined the dish. The rice was too hard and the texture wasn’t that great. I don’t know what kind of rice they use but it shouldn’t be used for baked rice. To make this dish, the rice has to be cooked first and then the fish and sauce are layered on top. Finally, the dish is placed in the oven with a sprinkle of cheese. If the rice is not cooked with enough water then the rice will dry up in the oven when it is being baked. Not very sure if that’s what happened to this dish. But for the first time ever….Panda did not finish her baked fish filet rice. However, I still really like to go to this restaurant. So it’s worth a try if you are in the neighbourhood~ I would go just to hang out with friends and have a snack.
