Bubble Queen

Posted by iPanda in $$Moderately Priced | 5 Paws | Bubble Tea | Richmond

Yum!  Rockia and I were running around Richmond this morning.  After a giant breakfast at Angel Cafe on Fraser Street, we weren’t hungry until 5pm.  Dinner wasn’t until a couple of hours so we stopped by Bubble Queen in Richmond.  The store front is facing Cambie Street and it’s a smaller store.  Make sure to look for it when you pass by or you will probably miss it.  We only stopped by for some drinks to take home.  But the experience was very pleasant because they had very good service.  I was aching for some chocolate so I ordered the ferrero rocher slush.  IT WAS SOOO RICH AND CREAMY!  It definitely satisfied my chocolate craving.  There were little bits of ferrero rocher blended into the drink.  I didn’t need to add anything to my drink because it was already full of bits of chocolate, wafer, and hazelnut cream.

I was so glad to have gotten this drink before my dinner because it was super filling.  I didn’t need to eat as much after drinking this.  As for Rockia, he had the Mango Slush with Mochi Balls!  Yes!  You heard it right!  Mochi balls!  This is the first place I’ve been to that offers mochi balls inside my bbt drink.  I’ve had it in chinese desserts but this was a nice surprise.  I have always loved mochi balls.  Some people might not like it or have had it.  It’s basically a japanese rice cake.  These were shaped like tiny balls.  They were a bit bigger than pearls but there were no problems sucking them up through the straw.  Definitely worth a try if you are visiting them.

Apart from bbts, they also had serve bubble waffles, seasonal desserts, thick sliced toast, and some snacks and casual meals.  There aren’t a lot of food choices so this won’t be the place to go if you are looking for food.  I haven’t tried the food here so I’m not sure of the quality.  But just based on the friendly service and yummy drinks, I would definitely return.  They have a stamp card where for every 9 drinks you order you can get one free.  There is also free wi-fi available for customers.  They are open from Mon to Thurs 11am-11pm, Fri and Sat 11am-12am, Sun 12pm-11pm

  • Wow! I have never seen mochi balls served ON TOP of bubble tea like that before. I drive by this place all the time, but I haven’t been in since they changed names which was over a couple years ago now.

I must check it out..looks interesting!

The mochi balls are great, but it’s very filling. Most drinks are good but do try their specials. Thanks for visiting.

  • Bubble Queen is my favorite place for bubble tea (along with Juice King in Yaohan). I live 5 minutes away too and have been coming here for 10 years. I remember way back in the day, before it was Bubble Queen, the old owners use to serve bb tea in GIANT cups (you had to hold it with two hands) for only $3 (and my friend worked there so we got endless refills). Despite the cup size getting smaller with the new owner, the quality went up too so I’m glad.

I remember the old place too. I could never finish those giant cups of bbt. Did you know a place in Landsdowne mall also has the giant cups? It’s called Fair Bee Coffee & Tea! Go try it out! Thanks for commenting!! Bubble tea definitely has good quality bbt!! LOVE IT!
