Copa Cafe (高柏餐廳)

Copa Cafe used to be one of my favorite HK style cafes last year. I love going for an afternoon snack. My favorite choice would be the avocado shrimp croissant with a side fruit salad. I haven’t gone since the beginning of summer so I was very excited when Rockia said that we should go visit it again.
There are two Copa locations. We visited the South Cambie Street branch. They have free parking in the back, but just be careful because it is a fairly tight spot. It was around 4 in the afternoon but we still ordered two pretty big meals. I ordered my usual avocado shrimp croissant and Rockia had the chicken steak with imitation crab white sauce on rice.
I absolutely loved this place last year, but unfortunately….good things don’t always last. My avocado shrimp croissant was completely different than what I had last year! There were hardly any avocado in it. But! There was more than enough salad dressing. This made the entire meal very very sour. I don’t know what kind of sauce they use it in, but they definitely put too much in. Then, my croissant was completely burnt! I couldn’t believe they still served it to me when the edges of the croissant were brown and black. I had to pick out the edges so I didn’t eat the burnt parts. Side note: burnt food is extremely bad for your health!
I had a hot almond drink with my meal. I didn’t order my usual cold milk tea because I already had one that morning. You also have to add a dollar to order cold drinks.
As for Rockia’s chicken steak, there weren’t enough sauce at all. The picture shows only a thin layer of cream sauce over the chicken. The veggies were pretty plain. I wish they gave us more sauce to go with the boring veggies and rice. Overall, the plate was too bland. The two dishes added up to about 15 dollars + tips. So disappointed with my experience this time. Sad ![]()

They cheat customers
September 06, 2010 Copa cafe, they cheat customers, they don’t serve what they say in the menu, they serve you cheap food and difference item as stated in the menu. I order SING QUAI stir fry with beef, they serve CUCUMBER stir fry with beef. SING QUAI is completely difference from Cucumber ; one is a higher grade melon and one is cheaper melon. its completely difference taste. when I point out to the waitress, she insist its SING QUAI, until another waitress confirm with me that’s not SING QUAI BUT SHE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING, doesn’t offer me change to another disk.I don’t feel like eating something I don’t like but they charge me the full price anyway. even the Manager don’t do anything about it. You call this a good restaurant ? YOU ORDER FROM MENU, THEY SERVE YOU WRONG FOOD, AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EVEN YOU DIDN’T EAT ANY PART OF IT. Service is very poor too. very bad experience. don’t recommend anybody to cater them, will not be back and will tell my friends what they are.Its no way to do business by cheating.
The restaurant business is one of the most difficult businesses to operate. Many people try to run restaurants without knowing how. They may start out with good intentions, but when they see they aren’t making money they start to cut corners. It is because of this, that so many restaurants come and go.
The food doesn’t even look that appealing.
